Anxiety? Reiki Healing Therapy Can Help
Everyone feels uneasy, anxious, nervous, or distressed at times, but what if that feeling is prolonged, continually recurring, or takes up more than temporary residency? What if it is accompanied by chronic pain and/or depression? A good place to start to explore relief, remission or recovery from this cycle is with Reiki treatments. In research studies, Reiki has been shown to relieve anxiety, reduce the occurrence of anxiety symptoms, and aid in the efficacy of other therapies. In fact,
Reiki is increasingly offered in hospital, hospice, and private practice settings, applied to a variety of illnesses and conditions. Those who receive such treatments report relief of symptoms from numerous health challenges, including mental health issues. Research shows that Reiki primarily helps in the reduction of stress, anxiety and depression, as well as relief of chronic pain — the last of which can bring on anxiety and depression, or make episodes worse.

Why is Reiki an attractive starting place?
Reiki (pronounced Ray kee) means “Life Force Energy”. Reiki Practice is a Japanese hands-on healing practice where the trained Reiki practitioner acts as a conduit of Life Force Energy for the recipient. Reiki comes through the practitioner’s hands.
Reiki is non-invasive (nothing is put into your body) and has no known contraindications (no adverse side effects). When you receive Reiki, the practitioner’s first commitment is to make you feel as comfortable as possible. You will be fully clothed and, most likely, will lay down on a massage table. More than likely, you will be offered a cozy blanket, a choice of silence or soft music, and you’ll be in a room with natural or soft lighting. This immediately helps soothe you and slow you down. Just moving into this space is a gift in itself! Often, people who are feeling anxious aren’t able to change their environment into something soothing, quieting, and calming. It helps to go somewhere and benefit from others setting up an environment that provides this for us – at least for a time.
By signing up and going to a Reiki appointment, you’ve taken an important step toward improved health and self-care. It’s a conscious acknowledgment that your health and well-being matter to you. In seeking Reiki care, you send a strong signal to yourself and others that you recognize the need to take action in order to feel better– a first step in healing anxiety.
Reiki provides “me time”. While you are receiving Reiki, that’s all you have to do - receive. Imagine – no other requirement of you for as long as your Reiki Healing session lasts. In this beautiful space of time, Reiki brings you care through a loving and compassionate healing practice from someone who has devoted their time to you and your well-being.
Reiki shifts your energy into a balanced whole. Those suffering from anxiety – whether mild or debilitating, often have trouble turning off the “monkey brain” – that constant chatter brain that’s IM-ing without ceasing. Reiki can help move, redirect, and balance your energy throughout your mind, body, emotion and spirit, bringing with it a great sense of relief and reconnection. More importantly, with continued treatment, Reiki will help you to remember this connection and make finding it more readily accessible.
Reiki is typically hands-on healing. The fact is, your Reiki practitioner is physically present for your entire healing session, witnessing, observing, and maintaining physical connection. The physical process of connecting with others may reduce the symptoms and severity of anxiety and anxiety related issues.
Many who receive Reiki feel a detoxification from negative thought patterns. Reiki healing is believed to release negative energy from the body/mind/emotion/spirit and fill the newly emptied space with Reiki – universal life-force energy. You begin to feel better and with repeated treatments, this feeling compounds. Try it and see for yourself!
Although other interventions or modalities of care may be required to treat and manage your anxiety, Reiki Healing Therapy– is a great place to start your care and can be a great complement to any other modality of care you choose down the road.
